![]() ![]() ![]() This is because Sanger was an outspoken eugenicist, a fact which a shocking amount of people are not aware of. While I believe that resorting to name-calling is unnecessary, I also firmly believe that nobody, regardless of what your views on abortion are, should celebrate this woman. Sanger receives mixed partisan reviews her opposers consider her a “baby-killer,” while her supporters praise her for eliminating the taboo on birth control and kick-starting a revolution that resulted in women finally having a say over their own bodies. But something I will never again support or celebrate is the life of Margaret Sanger, one of the founders of Planned Parenthood. Nothing will ever change my mind on these things. I will always defend a woman’s right to have an abortion, and I will always support making reproductive health care affordable for everyone. As a feminist, I keep two ideals close to my heart: A woman’s right to choose and the necessity of gender equality. March 1 marked the start of Women’s History Month. ![]()

She was born Gerda Hedwig Kronstein to a wealthy Jewish family in Vienna in 1920. Over 50 years, a field that encompassed a handful of brave and potentially marginal historians became one with thousands and expanded from Lerner’s development of an MA program at Sarah Lawrence College to the presence of women’s-history faculty in the great majority of US colleges and universities. Gerda Lerner was the single most influential figure in the development of women’s and gender history since the 1960s. ![]() ![]() ![]() There is a second book out this year, that I will be waiting for with anticipation!! I've given it four stars, as halfway through, the story kind of lost me slightly, but did pick itself up again, and, I enjoyed the ending. The book contains some beautiful illustrations that made the book even more remarkable for me. The theme is incredibly dark in parts, which made the story rather creepy. Although, I feel like there wasn't much depth to his character and the reader would enjoy hearing more about him and his past. I do especially like Podkin, and his character. I found the book to be fairly fast-paced, atmospheric and poignant in scenes. It's definitely a book to stimulate the imagination. ![]() ![]() I had a rabbit as a first pet, when I was about nine, and this book has made me see these creatures in a different light. I saw this book on the counter, and I had a little browse while I was waiting. Now, I came across this book at the Waterstones checkout, where, I admittedly already had five books in my hands to purchase. ![]() ![]() ![]() Queen Charlotte of Great Britain in a 1762 portrait. “The thing that surprises me is the number of historians who – perhaps just because of the cultural cringe factor – don’t want to denounce it as obvious rubbish,” Roberts said.
